Suspect Arrested, Charged in Stabbing at 5100 North Freeway

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a woman in the 5100 block of North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 8:55 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 19).

The suspect, James L. Farmer, 47, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 338th State District Court.  A booking photo of Farmer is attached to this news release.

The victim, 34, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives V. Habukiha and T. Forsythe reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a call of a citizen chasing a vehicle reported to have an unconscious and injured woman and a male suspect inside at the above address. Officers located the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop along the 18800 block of the North Freeway and detained Farmer (the driver).

Officers observed the woman in the back seat of the vehicle with multiple stab wounds and rendered aid until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported her to the hospital.  Farmer was determined to be impaired and believed to have ingested an unknown narcotic substance.  He was transported to an area hospital to be treated.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Farmer was subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
