| Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a woman at 219 Oriole Street #1 about 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday (November 23).
The suspect, Ian Sylvester Charles (b/m, 49), is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 230th State District Court. A booking photo of Charles is not available at this time, as he is hospitalized.
The victim, Gwendolyn Thompson, 61, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers A. Otero and A. Shaikh reported:
Charles, who lives with Ms. Thompson, hit her and then cut her in the face and head. Charles also sustained lacerations to his neck and torso, that appeared to be self-inflicted. Paramedics transported Thompson and Charles to the hospital.
Charles was subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
