HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant D. Lane and Detectives J. Montalvo, N. Arellano and W. Elliott reported:
HPD Westside Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team officers were pursuing a stolen vehicle driven by a suspect, later identified as Johnson, believed to be armed. The pursuit ended inside an apartment complex at the above address after the suspect vehicle struck an unoccupied vehicle. Johnson then fled on foot through the complex.
Johnson ran toward two officers in an unmarked vehicle, both of whom exited the vehicle tp pursue Johnson on foot. Believing Johnson armed, Officer Hoss discharged his duty weapon at Johnson, who was not struck. Johnson surrendered and was arrested without further incident. He was subsequently charged and transported to the Harris County Jail.
As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit and the Internal Affairs Division.
