Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 6003 Lyndhurst Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested after shots were fired at Houston police officers at 6003 Lyndhurst Drive about 12:40 p.m. last Friday (July 29).The suspect, Jerrell Bell, 31, is charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in the 178th State District   A booking photo of Bell is attached to this news release.No HPD officers were injured and none of them discharged a weapon.HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives J. De La Torre and A. Carroll reported:Plain clothes officers with HPD’s Southeast Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team were conducting an investigation at the above address on a suspect (Bell) wanted on felony warrants.  Bell, who was armed, and an adult male family member approached the officers, who were in an unmarked vehicle.  The officers quickly drove away and then heard several gunshots come from the direction of Bell and the family member. No one was injured.HPD patrol officers responded to the scene and occupants of the residence exited the house and were detained.  It was determined that one of those individuals, Bell, was in possession of a gun during the shooting incident.  He was subsequently arrested and charged.
