Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 880 State Highway 6 South

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 880 State Highway 6 South about 5 a.m. today (December 8).

The suspect, Jawan Celeste Dorsey (b/m, 19), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering/fabricating evidence in the 232nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Dorsey is attached to this news release.

The victim, Kingston Johnson, 25, was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective S. Neal reported:

Mr. Johnson returned home and was unable to enter his apartment because the deadbolt had locked the door from the inside.  After knocking on the glass several times, he broke the glass door and entered.  Johnson’s girlfriend and her male friend (suspect Dorsey) were inside at the time.  Dorsey began shooting at Johnson, striking him multiple times.  Dorsey then fled the scene, but later returned without the gun used in the shooting.

Johnson was transported to the hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics.  Dorsey was arrested at the scene and charged for his role in the incident.
