Houston police have arrested a suspect in the shooting of a man that occurred at 7440 South Hall Street about 4 p.m. on Thursday (May 7).
The suspect, Anthony Prince (b/m, 63), is charged with felon in possession of a weapon in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of Prince is attached to this news release.
The victim, Michael Griggs, 47, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer C. Brannen reported:
Mr. Griggs and Prince were at the residence at the above address and arguing about money Prince owed to Griggs. Griggs then left the location and returned. When Griggs returned, he threw a drink in Prince’s face, reached in his waistband and began to charge at Prince. At that time, Prince pulled out a pistol and shot Griggs one time in the torso. Paramedics transported Griggs to the hospital.
Prince was taken into custody. He stated Griggs had assaulted him in the past and had made statements that he was going to kill him.
The investigation is continuing.
