Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 7200 Capitol Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 7200 Capitol Street about 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday (June 5).

The suspect, Hugo Penaflor (H/m, 18), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 232nd State District Court.  He is accused in the shooting of Jesus Arizu, 20, who was transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers Z. Brumley and M. Althaus reported:

Mr. Arizu got into a confrontation with Penaflor over a bicycle.  After the confrontation, Penaflor later found Arizu near the above address and exited his vehicle armed with a pellet gun.  Penaflor then shot Arizu multiple times and fled the scene.

Paramedics transported Arizu to the hospital.  Penaflor was located in the 100 block of Dresden and taken into custody without incident.
