Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 7100 Crownwest Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a shooting incident at 7100 Crownwest Street about 6:40 p.m. on Sunday (March 26).  

The suspect, Alexxis Zambrano, 17, is charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 263rd State District Court.  A booking photo of Zambrano is attached to this news release.

No persons were injured in the shooting incident.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives S. Bourar, A. Chheav, Q Nguyen and O. Tapia reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address.  A preliminary investigation indicated an unknown suspect inside a vehicle discharged a firearm at a group of people, later determined to be three adults (two males and a female, 17) and three juveniles (two males, 16 & 14 and a female, 16). No one was struck by the gunfire and the suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival

Officers on scene then learned of a nearby crash involving a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle.  Officers detained the suspect and Major Assaults & Family Violence detectives responded to the scene.

Further investigation, evidence from the scene and witness statements positively identified Zambrano as the suspect in the vehicle and the shooter.  Zambrano was arrested and subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
