Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 5926 Easter Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 5926 Easter Street about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday (April 14).

The suspect, Eric Dewayne Jackson, 22, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 228th State District Court. Jackson’s booking photo is attached to this news release.

The victim, 47, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division Detective J. Ramirez reported:

HPD officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics transported him to the area hospital.

Officers detained the suspect, later identified as Jackson, at the scene. They learned the victim is Jackson’s uncle. Both individuals were involved in an altercation when Jackson produced a firearm and shot the victim.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Jackson was subsequently charged for his role in this incident.  He was then booked into the Harris County Jail.
