Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the shooting of a male at 200 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) that occurred about 9:30 a.m. on Friday (October 23).
The suspect, Jorge Joya (H/m, 45), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 230th State District Court. A photo of Joya is not available at this time.
He is accused of shooting a male victim, 18, who was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives J. Da La Torre and A. Carroll reported:
Joya was driving his vehicle on the Southwest Freeway at the above address when the victim cut off Joya’s vehicle. Joya, who was accompanied by a passenger, stated he was in fear of his life and discharged his pistol at the victim’s car. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the face.
Joya, who remained at the scene, was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in the shooting.
