HPD patrol officers responded to a family violence call at an apartment at the above address. As officers were taking statements for their report, they heard several gunshots nearby and advised a dispatcher they would respond.
As officers approached the area where the gunshots were heard, they observed two males, one of whom had a pistol in his hand. The officers gave the male (Padilla Cruz) verbal commands to drop the weapon,. Padilla Cruz ignored the officers and instead raised the weapon and fired one time in their direction before attempting to flee on foot.
Padilla Cruz was quickly arrested and charged in this incident. The pistol was recovered.
No officers were wounded.
