Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman that occurred at 7035 Bellfort Avenue about 1:45 a.m. on Saturday (June 7).
The suspect, Zyon Makai Sawyer-Alford, 21, is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court. A booking photo of Sawyer-Alford is attached to this news release.
The identity of the female victim, 65, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Hale and E. Camacho reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to an assault call at an apartment complex at the above address and when they arrived, a male with blood on him walked out of an apartment asking for help. Officers made entry into the apartment and found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds inside a bedroom. Officers detained the male. Paramedics pronounced the female deceased at the scene.
Further investigation identified the male, Sawyer-Alford, as the suspect in this incident. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and the suspect was subsequently charged with murder and booked into the Harris County Jail.
