Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal stabbing that occurred at 3820 Sherwood Lane about 6:05 p.m. on Sunday (June 1).
The suspect, Juan Manuel Arguetta Avila, 37, is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of Arguetta Avila is attached to this news release.
The identity of the deceased male, 38, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives P. Michon and I. Barrett reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the above address after the suspect called police. Once officers arrived they detained the suspect, Arguetta Avila, without incident in front of the apartment complex and recovered the knife used in the incident.
Officers then entered the apartment complex and found the victim on the sidewalk inside the common area of the apartment complex. He had suffered multiple stab wounds. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased.
The suspect, who was detained, was interviewed by investigators and admitted to his role in the fatal stabbing. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Arguetta Avila was charged.
