| Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 9601 West Montgomery Road about 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 1).
The suspect, Jonte L. Grant (b/m, 22), is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court for his role in the killing of Bryant Croomes, 50. A booking photo of Grant is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective T. Andrade reported:
Patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the apartment complex at the above address and observed Mr. Croomes with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Grant, the stepson of Croomes, fled the location after the shooting. He later returned to the scene and was taken into custody without incident.
