Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 7900 Creekbend about 1:50 p.m. last Friday (June 23).
The suspect, Juan Contreras (H/m, 31), is charged with murder in the 228th State District Court for his role in the killing of Miguel A. Marquez, 38.

HPD Homicide Division Officers G. Sullivan and D. Stark reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Marquez sitting inside a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds to his chest. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators learned there was a dispute between Marquez and an ex-husband of a witness that led to the shooting. Contreras was later identified and charged, and a weapon was recovered as evidence.
