Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 7512 Manning Lane about 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday (March 19).
The suspect, Juan Antonio Meza Cruz, 31, is charged with murder in the 351st State District Court. A booking photo of Meza Cruz is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 28, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective L. Brooks reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence at the above address and found an unresponsive man with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the driveway. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.
Further investigation and witness statements determined Meza Cruz shot and killed his brother following an argument. Officers developed information on Meza Cruz’s whereabouts and he was arrested a short time later. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Meza Cruz was subsequently charged. Meza Cruz was then booked into the Harris County Jail.
