| Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 5430 Birdwood Road about 8:50 p.m. last Friday (September 20).
The suspect, Warren Del Unkefer, 39, is charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court. A booking photo of Unkefer is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Robert Culver, 63.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives S. Chettry and H. Martinez reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found an unresponsive man with gunshot wounds inside an apartment. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man, later identified as Mr. Culver, deceased.
According to witnesses, a male and female were seen inside the apartment prior to the shooting and then in the parking lot. Officers detained the male and female without incident.
Further investigation identified the male as Unkefer and determined he was the shooter in this incident. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Unkefer was subsequently charged. The female was questioned and released with no charges filed.
