Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 5251 Gasmer Drive about 8:45 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 1).
The suspect, Alex Queroz (H/m, 23), is charged with murder in the 232nd State District Court for his role in the killing of Oscar Maradiaga, 23.
A booking photo of Queroz is not available at this time.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Detective B. Roberts reported:
Queroz was attempting to gain entry through a front window of an apartment at the above address where his son, ex-wife and her new boyfriend live. When Mr. Maradiaga approached the front window, Queroz shot him multiple times and then fled the scene. Paramedics arrived and pronounced Maradiaga dead at the scene.
About one hour later (10 p.m.), deputies with the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constables Office attempted a traffic stop on a blue Toyota Corolla near the North Freeway and Calvary. The driver refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued. Queroz was eventually taken into custody by deputies, who then contacted the HPD Homicide Division to advise of the arrest.
