Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 3950 Hollister Street that occurred about 4 a.m. on Saturday (June 10).
The suspect, Darwin Moroy-Lopez, 20, is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of Moroy-Lopez is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 29, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Wilson and Detectives M. Barrow and J. Caten reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found the victim unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The following investigation determined the victim and the suspect, later identified as Moroy-Lopez, got into an argument that resulted in a shooting. Moroy-Lopez was seen fleeing on foot further into the apartment complex.
Moroy-Lopez was located at the scene and arrested without incident. He was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.
