Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 2727 Bens Branch Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2727 Bens Branch Drive about 3:55 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 27).

The suspect, Tyler J. Binette (w/m, 20), is charged with murder in the 208th State District Court.  A booking photo of Binette is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 58, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives S. Overstreet and M. Perez reported:

Officers were dispatched to shooting in-progress call at the apartment complex at the above address and found a man unresponsive inside an apartment.  He had suffered a gunshot wound.  Paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene.

Witnesses stated the suspect lived in the apartment complex and that he and the victim had a physical altercation.  Officers located and detained the suspect (Binette).  He was questioned and subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.

At this time, the department does not believe there is a continuous threat to the general public.
