Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman at 2327 Grant Street about 11:10 pm. on Sunday (December 18).
The suspect, Brandon Rashad McKinney, 31, is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of McKinney is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 29, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Fregia and D. Higgs reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot outside a bar at the above address and found the victim with a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital in critical condition. Doctors pronounced her deceased on Tuesday (December 20).
A possible suspect, later identified as McKinney, turned himself in to police headquarters at 1200 Travis today (December 21). McKinney was interviewed by HPD homicide detectives and, after consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, he was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.
