Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 115 West Hamilton Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 115 West Hamilton Street about 11 a.m. on Saturday (April 8).

The suspect, Queen Smith Jackson, 67, is charged with manslaughter in the 338th State District Court.  A booking photo of Jackson is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 22, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Hobson and R. Rivera reported:

An argument occurred among family members at a funeral service in the funeral home at the above address and continued into the parking lot, where Jackson (one of the attendees) pulled a gun and fatally shot a family member.

Jackson admitted shooting the gun, but stated it was her intention to shoot the gun in the air.  Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Detectives contacted members of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and Jackson was subsequently charged for her role in the shooting.
