Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 10601 Fuqua Street

Charged have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 10601 Fuqua Street about 1:25 p.m. on Monday (Oct. 16).

Malcolm Jakobe Lewis, 20, is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court.

The identity of the victim, 25, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Elsbury and Detectives D. Arnold and J. Flores reported:

HPD officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of a business at the above address and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Officers learned the victim and a family member were confronted by two suspects, described only as two black males, about a business transaction dispute. The suspects assaulted the victim and the family member before one suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim multiple times. The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

On Friday (Oct. 20), Lewis turned himself in at HPD headquarters and confessed to his role in the shooting.
