Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 9300 Gulf Freeway

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 9300 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road about 12:50 a.m. on Thursday (November 2).

The suspect, Kuaterria Tremayne Bailey, 45, is charged with intoxication manslaughter and possession of a controlled substance in the 486th State District Court.  A booking photo of Bailey, who is hospitalized, is not available for release at this time.

The identity of the female victim, 62, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer D. Hoang reported:

The victim was driving a black Toyota Corolla northbound on the service road and stopped at a red light at the above address when a gray Nissan Rogue, driven by Bailey, failed to control speed and struck the rear of the Toyota.  The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.  Bailey was transported to an area hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash.

Investigators determined Bailey was impaired and he was subsequently charged.  Once he is treated and released from the hospital, Bailey will be taken to the Harris County Jail.
