Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal auto-pedestrian crash at 7400 South Gessner Road about 7:25 a.m. on Thursday (May 2).
The suspect, Oscar Harrison (b/m, 33), is charged with failure to stop and render aid in the 232nd State District Court. A booking photo of Harrison is attached to this news release.
The identity of the male victim, 70, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Senior Police Officer M. Tamez reported:
The driver (Harrison) of a tow truck was a the above address to repossess a black Lincoln Navigator and got into an altercation with the owner of the vehicle (victim) regarding his vehicle being repossessed. As Harrison drove away from the location westbound on South Gessner with the vehicle, the victim attempted to stop the vehicles by stepping between the tow truck and the Navigator and was struck by the Navigator. Harrison did not stop to provide assistance to the victim and left the scene.
Harrison later returned to the scene without the Navigator and was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
