Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 5800 Fairdale Lane about 10:30 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 1).
The suspect, Ahmedal Tayeb Elnouman Modawi (b/m, 17), is charged with three counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury in the 230th State District Court. A booking photo of Modawi, who remains hospitalized, is not available at this time.
The identities of the three deceased male victims – 18, 22 and 23 years of age – are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Hill reported:
An HPD sergeant observed a white Infiniti G37 engaging in reckless driving in a parking lot and activated his patrol vehicle’s emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop. Modawi, the driver of the Infiniti, evaded and drove at a high rate of speed on Fairdale Lane where he struck three pedestrians. The Infiniti then flipped and struck a fixed object.
Paramedics pronounced the three pedestrians deceased at the scene. Modawi and his male passenger each sustained a broken leg and were transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
It was determined Modawi was not intoxicated. He was taken into custody and subsequently charged in the crash.
