Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 2600 Briar Park Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 2600 Briar Park Drive about 5:05 p.m. on Saturday (October 3).

The suspect, Jaime Calderon (H/m, 19), is charged with murder and aggravated assault – serious bodily injury in the 179th State District Court.  A booking photo of Calderon is attached to this news release.

The male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Clark and Officer J. Hill reported:

A Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constable was in pursuit of a silver Honda Accord following a traffic offense.  Calderon, the driver of the Honda, ran a red light at Briar Park Drive and turned westbound onto Westheimer Road.  The Honda struck a yellow Scion and was in turn struck by a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer.  The Honda’s front passenger died at the scene.  A passenger in the Honda’s backseat was seriously injured.  Both the Chevrolet and Scion had the green light at the intersection.

Calderon was taken into custody and subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
