Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 2400 Katy Freeway

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash that occurred at 2400 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about  3 a.m. on Saturday (April 6).

The suspect, Sheila Michelle Brown (b/f, 33), is charged with failure to stop and render aid and intoxication manslaughter in the 339th State District Court.  A booking photo of Brown is attached to this news release.

The identity of the male victim, 46, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Benavidez and Officer J. Johnson reported:

A red Toyota Camry, driven by Brown, was traveling eastbound on the Katy Freeway when it struck a blue Mazda 3.  The Camry then struck a tractor-trailer truck that was stopped due to a prior crash that occurred in the 2100 block of the Katy Freeway.  Meanwhile, the Mazda struck a white GMC Canyon.  The driver of the Mazda died at the scene.  Brown fled on foot and was detained by responding patrol officers.  She was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor leg injuries.  She was determined to be intoxicated and subsequently charged for her role in the crash.
