Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 1900 Southwest Freeway

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 1900 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 11:55 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 15).

The suspect, Marcus Daniel Guien (H/m, 34), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 248th State District Court.  A booking photo of Guien is attached to this news release.

The identity of the female victim, 31, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer V. Ramos reported:

Guien was driving a black Ford F-150 pickup truck and was entering the southbound lanes at the above address from the Spur 527 when the truck struck the concrete barrier on the right shoulder of the freeway two times.  The front seat passenger (victim) was ejected from the vehicle.  Paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene.  Guien and a male backseat passenger were not injured.

Investigators determined Guien was intoxicated and he was taken into custody and subsequently charged in the crash.
