Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 14700 Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) that occurred about 1:20 a.m. today (July 29).
The suspect, Cahleb Shane Moser (w/m, 45), is charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid in the 179th State District Court. A booking photo of Moser is attached to this news release.
The identity of the male victim, 38, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer V. Nguyen reported:
Moser was driving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck westbound on the Northwest Freeway, failed to control his speed and struck a red Xingfu moped, also traveling on the Northwest Freeway. Moser did not stop to provide assistance and fled the scene. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased.
A witness followed Moser, who was detained by Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies at the Louetta Road exit of the Northwest Freeway. Moser exhibited signs of intoxication and he was taken into custody without further incident.
