Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 10300 Richmond Avenue about 3:50 a.m. on Monday (March 15).
The suspect, Joe Nathan Richardson (b/m, 30), is charged with intoxication manslaughter and felon in possession of a weapon in the 263rd State District Court. A booking photo of Richardson is attached to this news release.
The identity of the male victim, 28, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer M. Ramos reported:
Richardson was driving a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound on Richmond Avenue at a high rate of speed when he ran the red light at the intersection with the West Sam Houston Parkway service road (Beltway 8). The Dodge struck a gray Toyota 4-Runner traveling northbound on the service road. The impact caused the Toyota to strike a light pole.
Paramedics transported Richardson and the driver of the Toyota to an area hospital where the Toyota’s driver was pronounced deceased. Richardson suffered only minor injuries.
Richardson was determined to be intoxicated and he was taken into custody and charged in the crash.
