Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 10000 Katy Freeway

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 10000 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 7:45 a.m. on Sunday (July 19).

The suspect, Brandon Rashon Freeman (b/m, 32), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 209th State District Court.  A booking photo of Freeman is attached to this news release.

The identity of the deceased female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Warhol and Officer — Nguyen reported:

Freeman was driving a gray Nissan Sentra eastbound on the service road at the above address when he ran the red light at the intersection at Gessner Road and struck a gray Mazda 3.  The impact caused the Mazda to strike a white Toyota RAV4, waiting at the red light.  The female driver of the Mazda was pronounced deceased.  The driver of the Toyota was not injured.

Freeman was determined to be intoxicated and was taken into custody and subsequently charged.
