Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2020 Fatal Shooting at 14800 O Hara Drive

A suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 14800 O Hara Drive about 6:20 p.m. on April 18, 2020 has been arrested.

The suspect, Jose Roberto Aquino Calderon (H/m, 44), is charged with murder in the 176th State District Court. A booking photo of Aquino Calderon is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of Danis Valladares, 36.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Clark and M. Nicotra reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Valladares lying on the side of the roadway. He was unresponsive and had sustained an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. Paramedics arrived and pronounced Valladares deceased at the scene.

Witnesses heard what may have been a verbal altercation between Valladares and another male, seen armed with a gun. The witnesses then heard several gunshots and observed the male (suspect) run toward a newer model, black truck. The suspect vehicle then fled and traveled eastbound on Whitton Drive.

Further investigation identified the suspect as Jose Roberto Aquino Calderon and, on Monday (April 19), he was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Service – Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.
