HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives M. George and J. Windham reported:

The female victim, 28, had property taken by a suspect (later identified as Rojas).  When a male (Aguirre-Mendiola) attempted to get the property back, a physical altercation ensued between Rojas and Aguirre-Mendiola.  During the altercation, Aguirre-Mendiola discharged a weapon, striking both Rojas and a male bystander, 45.

Both males were transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation identified Aguirre-Mendiola as the suspect and, after contacting the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, he was charged.  On Thursday (June 6) Aguirre-Mendiola was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail.

Rojas remains at-large.
