Houston police have released surveillance photos of a suspect wanted in the fatal stabbing of a man found at 4500 Main Street about 9:10 p.m. on Sunday (Jan. 7).

The suspect is described as a possible Hispanic male, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with dark hair.  He was carrying a black backpack, and was wearing a dark windbreaker jacket and a ball cap.  Two surveillance photos of the suspect are attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 53, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. LaFour and J. Diaz reported:

METRO police officers responded to a disturbance call between two males on the METRO Rail line platform at 1900 Main Street.  When officers arrived, they searched the immediate area but did not locate the males.  Dispatchers then advised the officers of a stabbing victim found in one of the rail cars at the 4500 block of Main Street near the Wheeler Avenue stop.  Officers located an unresponsive male lying on the floor inside the rail car.  Paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene.  He had suffered at least one stab wound.

Detectives recovered a surveillance photo of the suspect.  Evidence thus far indicates this is an isolated incident involving the two males.
