Storage Lot Fire in The Northshore Area

WHAT: Storage lot fire.

WHEN: October 10, 2024, at 12:36 p.m.

WHERE: 12526 Church Rd. 77015.

INJURIES: One civilian evaluated on scene.

PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.

PROPERTY DAMAGE: $500,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (unattended burn barrel).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from a stack of pallets in a storage lot with piles of pallets, machinery and propane tanks and vehicles. They made an attack on the fire, however due to the materials involved, the fire grew larger with several of the propane tanks exploding. The fire was controlled and crews stopped it from spreading to nearby structures. Rehab was established, along with a Metro bus for a cooling station. Once the fire was fully extinguished, HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause. One civilian was treated on scene for shortness of breath. 95 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 2, 39, 32, 93, 23, 20, 45, 19, 27, 29, 42, 43, 44, 53, 11, 34, 41, 15, 30 and Hazmat 22.
