Residential Fire in The South Acres / Crestmont Park Area

WHAT: Residential (assistant living facility house) Fire.

WHEN: June 1, 2022 at 12:09 p.m.

WHERE: 3900 block of Tavenor, 77047

INJURIES: One civilian transported to the hospital.

PROPERTY SAVED: $220,900 in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $5,500 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Accidental (carelessly discarded smoking materials).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes to find light smoke coming from a residence being used as an assisted living facility with a report of one resident still inside. There were several individuals already safely out of the home. Upon entering, crews heard an individual yelling for help and safely removed her from the home, then transported her to the hospital. The house was filled with smoke and a working fire was found in a bathroom. Firefighters extinguished the fire with a pump can and ensured no one else was inside the residence. The utilizes were secured and no extension of the fire was found. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Crews from Stations 46, 55, 35, 24, 23 and 47 responded to this incident.
