WHAT: Multi-storage unit building fire.
WHEN: May 19, 2023 at 12:59 p.m.
WHERE: 10220 Katy Freeway, 77043.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: More than $8,700,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $500,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find a multi-storage unit building on fire with units on either side of the main unit also involved. They opened the doors to check for extension and requested additional units, including Rehab. Various items were removed from the units to gain access and reach smoldering fire. The fire was controlled, and crews ensured there were no hotspots. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 37 HFD personnel responded to this incident, including those from Stations 77, 2, 5, 78, 49, 57, 69, 75 and Rehab 17.
