HOUSTON -- Mayor Sylvester Turner today congratulated the Houston Dynamo for clinching the U.S. Open Cup after a thrilling game against the Philadelphia Union Wednesday night at BBVA Compass Stadium.
The mayor recorded a special video message to honor the team and thank MLS soccer fans for showing up to the game, wearing orange and cheering the Houston Dynamo to victory.
A week prior to the important U.S. Open Cup matchup, Houston Dynamo President, Chris Canetti, showcased the U.S. Open trophy at city hall to encourage Houstonians to attend the game.
Mayor Turner has invited Canetti and members of the Dynamo organization back to city hall to be honored with a proclamation on Tuesday, Oct. 2,during the city council public session.
