Houston police are investigating the shooting of an armed suspect by HPD officers at 7338 Sandle Street about 12:10 a.m. today (March 12).
The male suspect, 29, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Officers A. Parr, N. Davis and J. Martinez, who discharged their duty weapons, were not injured in the incident. Officers Davis, Parr and Martinez are assigned to the North Patrol Division and were sworn in as officers in November 2009, January 2018 and November 2020, respectively.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant R. Flores and Detectives A. Hurtado, J. Turner, R. Anderson, N. Arellano and O. Flores reported:
HPD officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence at the above address regarding a male suspect causing a disturbance with a gun. Officers arrived at the location and observed a male sitting in a vehicle in the driveway of the residence. Officers gave the suspect repeated verbal commands to show his hands, but he did refused to do so.
As the suspect exited his vehicle, he pointed a gun and fired toward officers, but no one was struck. Fearing for their lives, Officers Parr, Davis and Martinez discharged their duty weapons and the suspect was struck. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the suspect to the hospital.
As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit, the Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
