Houston police are investigating the self-inflicted shooting of a male that occurred at 7700 Corporate Drive about 6:30 p.m. on Monday (Dec. 9).
The male, Xavier Gomez, 20, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer K. Saulsberry reported:
Mr. Gomez was with his girlfriend in an apartment at the above address when he began playing with a handgun. Gomez placed the handgun to his face and took pictures for social media. He then racked the handgun, unknowingly chambering a round, removed the magazine and put the handgun to his head. He then pulled the trigger and inadvertently shot himself.
