Houston police are investigating the shooting of a woman at 4718 Lockwood Drive about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday (November 23).
The victim, Cynthia Joyce Gilmore, 43, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer M. Deleon reported:
Ms. Gilmore and a female suspect got into a verbal argument after Gilmore started a fire inside a convenience store at the above address and the suspect extinguished it. During the argument, the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at Gilmore. Both women then went back inside the store and continued to argue.
The argument escalated to a physical fight during which the suspect fired the gun and struck Gilmore in the chest. The suspect, described only as a black female, fled the scene in an unknown direction. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Gilmore to the hospital.
