Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man and a woman at 3801 Liberty Road about 10:10 p.m. on Sunday (July 22).
The male victim, Henry Johns, Jr., 74, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The female victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hip and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division Detectives A. Ferrell and J. Roberts reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Johns, Jr. had been shot while walking home from the Liberty Food Market. A female was also found inside the store with a gunshot wound. Further investigation determined unknown suspects fired shots from inside a vehicle traveling eastbound near the above address. Two other unknown suspects were seen in front of the store shooting at the passing vehicle. Johns, Jr. and the female victim were transported by paramedics to the hospital.
At this time, there is no known motive for the shooting.
