Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 5922 Beaconridge Drive that occurred about 5:15 p.m. on Monday (October 26).
The victim, Donald Dixon, 18, transported himself to HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland and was then transferred by Life Flight to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division Detectives M. Deleon and A. Merino reported:
Mr. Dixon was playing basketball with his friends at a neighborhood park at the above address when the suspect arrived with his own basketball. They then began to play a pickup game.
Upon the conclusion of the game, Dixon and his friends celebrated by throwing the basketball in the air. The suspect and Dixon began arguing and the suspect went to his vehicle to get his gun. The suspect then shot Dixon, who returned fire with his own gun. Dixon drove himself to the hospital. The suspect, described only as a black male, fled in a black Toyota Camry. It is unknown if the suspect was injured.
