Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 16303 Imperial Valley Drive about 4:40 p.m. on Monday (May 3).
The victim, James Watkins, 25, was transported to an area hospital.
The male shooter, 22, was not injured.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers C. Johnson and H. Martinez reported:
Mr. Watkins was outside in the parking lot of the apartment complex at the above address when a male (shooter) parked behind Watkins’ vehicle. Watkins and the male exchanged words and threatened to shoot each other. The male and Watkins walked to their respective apartments where Watkins retrieved a handgun and the male a rifle. The two men met back in the parking lot and started firing shots at one another. Watkins was struck several times in his legs. Paramedics transported him to the hospital. The male was not injured.
Investigators questioned the male. He was released pending further investigation.
