Investigation into Man’s Death at 8100 Sands Point Drive

Houston police are investigating the death of a man at 8100 Sands Point Drive that occurred about 6:20 a.m. on Saturday (April 6).

The identity of the deceased male, 30, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington and Detective D. Stark reported:

The victim was found unresponsive in the parking lot of an apartment complex at the above address by a family member.  Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.

A preliminary investigation and evidence from the scene indicated the male was struck by his Ford F-150 pickup truck.  The truck then came to a complete stop, reversed and struck the victim a second time.  The pickup then exited the apartment complex and fled the scene eastbound on Sands Point Drive.  The vehicle was reported stolen.  Later that afternoon, officers located the pickup truck, conducted a traffic stop. and detained three males without incident.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and one male, Cesar Adrian Cerrato-Oliva, 30, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the 185th State District Court.  His booking photo is not releasable at this time, pending further investigation.  The other two males were questioned and released, pending further investigation.

At this time, detectives have not determined who was driving the pickup at the time of the incident.
