Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man who was found at 6229 Richmond about 9:40 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 20).
The victim suffered no obvious signs of trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Detectives J. Villareal and W. Huff reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a welfare check in room #306 of the Best Western located at the above address. Upon arrival, they detected a strong odor coming from the room and knocked on the door. When the officers received no response, a Best Western employee opened the door so the officers could perform a welfare check. Upon entry, the officers observed the deceased lying on a bed in the room.
