Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man found at 2700 Scott Street about 3:45 a.m. last Friday (Dec. 23).
The identity of the victim, believed to be in his 60s, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington and Detective M. Perez reported: Officers were dispatched to a deceased person call in a small vacant field at the above address and were advised that a male was found lying in a fire at an encampment next to a convenience store. Paramedics pronounced the man deceased. Earlier in the evening, the man was seen walking into the convenience store and appeared disoriented. Officers learned the man was assisted back to the camp by an employee at the business and the man sat down alone next to a fire to keep warm. The man was later found lying in the fire by the same store employee whose shift had ended. No disturbance was observed in the area.
