Investigation into Man’s Death at 18951 North Memorial Boulevard

Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a male at 18951 North Memorial Boulevard about 5:10 a.m. on Sunday (March 31).

The identify of the male, 55, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Special Investigations Unit Officer M. Glover reported:

The male was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon - family violence - after officers responded to a stabbing call at a hotel at 7014 Will Clayton Parkway about 2:50 a.m. last Friday (March 29).  The male had stabbed his girlfriend during an altercation.

While on scene, the male informed officers he ingested a large amount of cocaine and then began showing signs of an overdose.  Paramedics transported him to Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital at the above address in Humble, Texas.

Early Sunday morning, the male suffered a medical event and was pronounced dead by the attending physician.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to determine the male's cause of death.  Since the male became unresponsive in the presence of HPD officers, the incident is being investigated as an in-custody death at this time.
