Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man found at 8300 Mykawa Road about 10:40 p.m. on Sunday (December 30).
The man, Thomas Edward Loyd, 55, had no visible signs of trauma.
HPD Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit Detective R. De La Rosa reported:
An HPD jail attendant was conducting night shift checks for prisoners in the male housing area of the Southeast Patrol Station jail and found Mr. Loyd unresponsive in his cell. Jail medical personnel also responded, as well as HFD paramedics, who pronounced Loyd deceased.
Further investigation determined Loyd had prior medical conditions. The investigation is pending his cause of death, to be determined by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
As is customary when an individual dies while in police custody, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit and the Internal Affairs Division.
